untitled

the tears have a way of gathering
in the fold of your left ear,

a tiny pond of the day’s
injustices and injuries

slowly fills and overflows,
puddles on your pillow.

i wash the faint stains
each afternoon

my hands on every
crease of the cloth

that will hold
your face tonight.
